Hi.
If you "Ans: At month end. We settle the order as month end activity."
>> i guess you are working with Standard Costing.
Ans: I do the GI in the 1st period for 8 quantity only (as i have mentioned in my "Case 2" example) & not for the total order quantity.
>> OK. In this case you could work with the scenario you explained. Keep in mind the system do FULL settlement in the 2nd period, so the price diff post is created based on the hole order. Its a bit difficult to explain, but the following steps could explain:
+ Create order 10 units
+ Do GI, GR for 8 units with the production order
+ TECO and Settle
+ Change month
+ Do GI of the 8 units you produce in the 2nd period (EG sales, the idea is you have 0 stock of the finish product)
+ Do GR of a raw material with different cost, so you have price difference in the raw
+ Do GR, GI for the production order 2 units.
+ Settle the order in the 2nd month. see the effect in the in the price diff account.
"Also keep in mind the following the in your scenario, the TECO for the 1st period must be set during the month, if you set in the next month, its not recognized in the 1st (TECO set store the date you did)".
>> The idea is the following: You have 2 months. M1, M2. When you change the status of a order to TECO, the system capture the date you do, so there are 2 possibilities:
+ If you do the TECO the day 31 of month M1, the TECO is valid for month M1, so you can settle your order
+ If you do the TECO the day 01 of month M2, the order dont have TECO in M1, and when you try to run the Settle of the order for M1, the system ask you for Periodificacion (WIP RUN). Here are the tricks to force the settlement.
As I toldyou, its not a good idea work with this scenario, WIP run is the normal behavior of the system. I never see a company that work in that way (productive system). I know it possible because some time ago I tested a scenario like this, but not sure about all the collateral effects.
