Re: Question about destinations in HCP

Hi Ross,

I'm confused as well as to why the documentation says that in case of a 403 response you should use an OnPremise connection?!? OnPremise should be used for URLs, which are behind a firewall and therefore not accessible from the Internet. So if you get a network error like HostNotFound, you would need to use an "OnPremise" connection. But as you are getting a response (even if it's an HTTP error code), it means that the network connection is ok, so a destination of type "Internet" should be the correct choice.

I remains to be investigated, why the target server responds with 403, when you call it from HCP, while it responds with 200, when you call it from your own REST client. Do the log files of the target server give any additional clues about why the request is rejected? There could be many different possible reasons, like:

  • The target system allows requests only from certain IP addresses
  • If SSL is used, it could mean that the target server requires a Client Certificate, and your REST client is sending one, while the HCP application does not.
  • In the HCP application the URL is slightly different from the one used in the REST client, resulting in a URL, to which the target server denies access...
  • etc. etc.

So without more error details from the target system it's hard to tell, why it denies access.

Best Regards, Ulrich
